Who's to say what it should be A combination of different things If a solution's all you need For dream hard times is hard times daddy If I hesitate when i'm on the trigger Don't be afraid Nothing will ever stop me When the feeling goes away What have you left to cling to Another mistake Well good times will be here soon Working hard as and when required like ichiban in the dome Keep your mind on simple things don't be afraid to stay at home When rolling back the days Careful what you wish for Some things have changed Some things are coming round again Stuck inside a room Not listening to what they tell you Smiling at the thought That good times will be here soon

An overwhelming weight A collective expectation things will change All these people trying Everybody's just doing their best to make a difference A contribution that isn't there to make But if you like it Carry on and if no one is asking pretend that you don't hear them No moving on! The world needs rock music like a mother needs opinions on her child But carry on Finish what you wanted to say, don't let the devil in the way Picking through the bones searching for something to validate your worth Cos everybody hates you for playing a guitar and seeming to enjoy it far too much. Talent show delusion, what a waste But if you like it Carry on Never be defeated, common sense is weakness No moving on! Just never admit it, keep on dancing down with the ship But carry on

I hear the eggs are to die for We can dine, confront our guilt I know the owner they'll make sure we're looked after The best coffee in the world Meet me 11am Like old times, like old friends It's hard to reminisce When faced with such a menu Can you believe the price of this can of cola There are things to consider We must not get distracted Our own domestic Yalta in a cramped yuppie utopia We could explore the details Put it down to luck Hit new York and beef it Get down to the crux But now I think about it You know it's not enough I need a better reason Who gives a fuck about brunch

about

After a four-year hiatus brought about by COVID and subsequent multiple child births, London's alt-ROCK patheticists Brunch are back with new three track EP Carry.

Recorded with Tom Hill (Modern Rituals, Muttering) in May 2023 and with mixing duties split between Joseph Futak, Tom Hill and the band's own Sean Brook (tackling tracks 1, 2 and 3 respectively), Carry finds Brunch in elegiac mood, feeling out the futility/necessity of hope in the face of oblivion and finding that, despite worn out enthusiasm and worn down bodies, they have just enough strength left to punch the air.

Brook says "it was unclear when writing these songs whether they would end up being the last thing the band did, so trying to imbue them with a kind of defiant, never-say-die spirit seemed funny. What is more appropriate for a rock band than continuing to do it long past the point anyone wants or needs you to. The world might be ending but so what - rock music is forever!"
